Shanley McLean is the founder of Getta Grip Shin Shield, an innovative product designed to enhance rope-climbing speed and performance for CrossFit athletes. Her creation claimed the £2,000 top prize at the Appin Entrepreneurship Awards this year, sponsored by Napier Alumni business Appin Sports. Shanley’s product aims to address the challenges athletes face during rope climbs, offering a solution that improves their performance and safety.

BRT’s Support:
Shanley credits BRT for providing invaluable support throughout her entrepreneurial journey. She notes,

“The biggest benefit would be the support of BRT towards my business idea. I sometimes lack the belief in myself, and it was incredible to receive that support and belief in me and my
business. The experience encouraged me to keep going and push through with my idea and grow my business.”

With BRT’s help, Shanley was able to take Getta Grip Shin Shield from a prototype to a final product, launch a website to sellthe product, and showcase it at industry events.

Achievements:

Over the past year, Shanley and her business have accomplished several key milestones, including the development of the Getta Grip Shin Shield from a prototype to the final version. They also launched a website, enabling them to sell their product to customers. However, one of their standout achievements was attending the Turf Games in Glasgow, where they set up a rope-climbing rig and showcased the product to potential clients.

“We made amazing connections at Turf Games and I’m so proud of what my business
partner and I have achieved,”

says Shanley.
