Bright Red Triangle welcomes battery recycling startup founder Leonardo Binetti as Entrepreneur in Residence

Bright Red Triangle(BRT), Edinburgh Napier University (ENU)’s enterprise hub, has announced the appointment of chemical and materials engineering expert Dr Leonardo Binetti as its latest Entrepreneur in Residence.

An ENU alumnus, Dr Binetti has carved a unique path from academia to entrepreneurship. He is the co-founder of AraBat, an internationally recognised startup focused on sustainable lithium-ion battery recycling, which has attracted millions of pounds in venture capital investment and achieved significant international expansion.

Beyond his role at AraBat, Dr Binetti co-hosts People Planet Pint, a community initiative dedicated to promoting sustainable practices. He also serves on the quality
board for Plastic Free Certification.

With BRT’s newly expanded reach, Dr Binetti will work with students, graduates, and staff from ENU, Queen Margaret University and Edinburgh College, providing mentorship and guidance to foster sustainable and impactful entrepreneurial ventures.

His role will enhance BRT’s support for emerging entrepreneurs across the institutions,
particularly within areas like health, creative industries, engineering, and sustainability.

Dr Binetti becomes the latest leading expert from the business world to support the BRT
community as an Entrepreneur in Residence, following the arrival of Nigel Chadwick and Lynne Cadehead in recent months.
