Bright Red Triangle and Edinburgh Napier University are delighted to celebrate the success of Emily Youngs, founder of WombWise, who has secured £10,000 in grant funding, along with an extensive support package, at this year’s Young EDGE Awards.

Emily, a recent Edinburgh Napier MSc Data Engineering graduate, captivated this year’s judges with her innovative vision and mission to close the gender gap in healthcare through data-driven solutions. Her startup, WombWise, is developing a symptom-tracking app that integrates wearable data and uses AI to detect menstrual and hormonal disruptions. The platform is designed to empower women to self-advocate and access faster diagnoses for conditions such as endometriosis and PCOS, which can currently take years.
This award places WombWise among 31 of Scotland’s most promising startups and scaleups selected in the 26th round of Scottish EDGE, highlighting the strength and diversity of Scotland’s entrepreneurial landscape.
Emily brings a rare combination of technical expertise and human-centred innovation. Before founding WombWise, she worked as a Data Engineer with NHS Digital, building national data standards, complemented by previous experience as a full-stack developer. Her commitment to transforming women’s health outcomes through intelligent use of data is at the heart of the company’s mission.
We also extend our warm congratulations to all the Young EDGE winners in this year's cohort. Their achievements reinforce the momentum and creativity driving Scotland’s startup community forward.
