Amber Isaacs
BRT Co-ordinator
Having had a short stint in fraud prevention with the Natwest Group, I’m excited to be joining the team at BRT. My background is in community engagement, social enterprise and the third sector more broadly, having spent 7 years working with Gorgie City Farm (now LOVE Gorgie Farm) a year of which I was project manager of the site. The time here was hugely important to my professional and personal development, having the opportunity to start projects and test ideas all while supporting vulnerable members of the community.
My key successes were in launching a food bank during the early pandemic in 2020. Almost entirely run on donations from the community and volunteer support, to date the service has provided in excess of 3000+ food parcels to families in Edinburgh and the Lothians. I also developed several outdoor education programmes, which again were crucial during the lockdown for keeping children and young people engaged with their community. With further experience in recruitment, marketing, fundraising, financial monitoring, and events planning – I like to think of myself as a creative problem solver when it comes to the unforeseen challenges that can be faced in any project.
Out with employment, and as a fairly recent English Literature and History graduate, I have worked on some literature projects collating and editing content, as well as writing for submission. Reading is my passion, so please drop in with book recommendations and prepare for my TedTalk!
